Spring Cleaning our Plate Making Methods

Spring has finally sprung. People are busy planting seeds which means for us here at Cambridge Printers the next 2 months will be busy printing seed packets. This year we have adapted our old plate making method. We have replaced our old Silvermaster Plate maker which uses time and chemicals for a newer eco friendly solution. Using the perfect marriage of digital plate making and litho printing we are saving many man hours plate making. We estimate to save 3 days out of our 8 week seed packet run. We are using polyester plates imaged on a laser printer. These plates are ready for printing keeping the press in constant use. This new method not only saves time but reduces costs and above all is more friendly to the environment.

PDF – 5 reason’s its the best file transport method

5 Reason’s why PDF is the best method of file transportation

 

  1. Unlike sending native files from software such as Quark Express or Illustrator the receiver does not need the exact same software installed on their computer in order to open the file.
  2. Most software doesn’t embed images in the page document rather they have pointers to high resolution images usually stored separately.  This leaves room for error as images are frequently forgotten. The PDF stores all of its components in a single file.
  3. PDF requires only Adobe reader, free downloadable software to open and print the file.
  4. PDF files can embed fonts for printing so the output is consistent with or without the fonts installed on the viewer’s computer.
  5. Most modern software tools such as Microsoft office have the capability of producing PDF files which makes it the most universal method.
